University studies usually involve a lot of writing assignments. The greatest problem I have in these writings is lack of points. It is very difficult for me to come out with a great idea immediately while the others can. In order to have substantial points, I usually refer to books and internet for more information and inspiration. However, sometimes I even do not know where to start from. So, each time I will start my writing assignment with an idea generation to draw out a rough plan. Next, I will move on to writing outline where I will add in some relevant points. Before creating the final version of my writing, a draft will definitely help me to narrow down my topic and minimize grammatical errors through proofreading. Polishing a writing task is an art that we must learn in order to create a refined version of writing.
The second problem that I face frequently in my writing assignments is the accuracy of grammar. There are a lot of grammar points in English and sometimes I am quite confused with some of them. For example, I always make a mistake on article, subject-verb agreement and wrong word. Grammar is essential to make writing alive and convey the information precisely to the readers. So during the proofreading, I will refer to grammar notes and rectify the grammatical errors I have made. If I am not sure about the usage of a certain grammar, I will try to ask my friends and lecturers for guidance. Then, I will also try to read more English articles in newspapers and magazines in order to get exposure to their writing style and the various usage of the English grammar. Conclusively, these methods help me a lot in improving my English writing ability; thus, I will keep it on and do it better.
